Movement Hack to Release Resistance and Resentments

We're going to dive deep within ourselves, find our inner resistance, and I’ll guide you on how to release it. This might just become one of your favorite exercises, trust me.

To start, let's talk about the mind-body connection. When you're connected with your mind and your body, magical things happen! Moving your body can change your mind. You can talk yourself out of anything that happens up here in your head, but what you feel in your gut is undeniably true.

We're going to use this profound connection today.

We're going to identify something that's been bugging us. Maybe it's an annoying task or a frustrating situation – whatever it is, we're gonna find it, acknowledge it, and let it go.

First, we need to center ourselves. Place one hand on your belly, one on your heart, and imagine another hand on the back of your skull. We’re going to inhale in three parts: into the belly, the heart, and the mind. Then exhale slowly. Let's do this together: inhale belly, heart, mind, and exhale belly, heart, mind.

Now, let's go deeper. Focus your awareness past your stomach muscles, internal organs, into the space between your internal organs and your lower spine. Inhale into that space, feel it grounding and anchoring you. Keep that space expansive even as you exhale.

Next, bring your attention to your heart. Sink back behind your heart, into the space between your heart and spine. That’s your space. Inhale, expanding your personal space. Notice how your weight might shift, how your body feels.

Now, bring your hand (or keep it imaginary) to the back of your head. Inhale up into your sinuses, feeling the space between your brain and your skull. Expand this space, breathe, and release.

With this newfound depth, we’ll engage in preparatory breathing again – deep into the gut, heart, mind, and exhale deeply.

Now, it’s time to face that resistance. Think of something you’re currently resenting or frustrated by. Got it? Good. Visualize that frustration in front of you. Rub your fingertips together, then rub your palms, becoming aware of your hands. Reach for that thing you’re resenting, grasp it, and hold on tight.

Really feel it – all that frustration. Make tight fists. Now, with your fists closed, take a deep inhale through the gut, heart, mind. As you exhale, begin to slowly release your fists, let the tension fade bit by bit. It might take effort, and that’s okay. Inhale and exhale as you gradually open your hands, releasing that frustration. Allow it to fall away.

Now that you’ve released it, feel what it’s like to have open hands. Rejoice in this newfound freedom. Contract your hands and release, contract and release. Feel the difference with each cycle. You can involve your whole body – contract and release, from your solar plexus to your legs, feel the release.

Remember, my friends, this is who we are. Alive and vibrant. No one else can be you. Embrace it and go out there to do something freaking amazing!
