If you've been struggling with neck disc issues, you know how frustrating it can be to find suitable exercises without exacerbating your pain. So today, I want to dive into some specific exercise modifications that can make a world of difference for anyone with neck discomfort.
First things first, remember that the crucial relationship is between your neck and ribcage—not your neck and gravity. Many folks with neck pain often have a forward head posture that isn't super noticeable but can still affect their comfort and performance during exercises.
One of the biggest challenges is that many traditional exercises, especially in Pilates, can be problematic for those with neck issues. Curl-ups, roll-ups, and various leg movements are just too intense. Instead, we have to get creative. Try doing exercises with your head down or taking your routine prone. Socks and a wood floor can be surprisingly useful here!
Another game-changer? Wall pushups. They modify the lever load, allowing you to work on your chest without putting undue strain on your neck.
